Census 2027: Field visits for houselisting, household data collection begin in Jharkhand

**Ranchi, May 1:** The first phase of Census 2027 has moved into the field in Jharkhand. Trained enumerators have begun house-to-house visits for houselisting and household data collection across the state. Over 78,000 personnel are now on the ground. They are tasked with recording details of every household, including the number of rooms, amenities, and family composition. The door-to-door exercise follows the launch of the self-enumeration phase by Chief Minister Hemant Soren. Residents who opted for self-enumeration could fill their details online. Now, enumerators are covering the remaining households. This is the first major census operation in India since 2011. The data collected will form the foundation for government policy, resource allocation, and welfare schemes for the next decade. For families in Jharkhand, the enumerator's visit is not just a formality. It determines everything from ration card eligibility to school and hospital planning in their area. The field visits are expected to continue over the coming weeks. Officials have urged residents to cooperate with enumerators and provide accurate information.
